Regular price R 1,303.00 Sale price R 799.78The Two Little Fishies MegaVeggieMag Magnetic Sea Veggies Clip is a powerful, magnetic feeding clip for large fish in aquariums with thicker glass or acrylic. The device holds seaweed or other foods and is designed to stay in place even when large, aggressive fish try to pull it off the wall.
Features & Benefits:
- Stronger magnet: The device uses high-strength neodymium magnets to ensure it remains securely attached to thick aquarium walls.
- Thick aquarium walls: It is specifically designed for use on tanks with walls up to 3/4 inch thick.
- No wet hands: The magnetic design allows you to position the clip inside the tank and retrieve it without getting your hands wet.
- Floating design: The inside clip assembly is designed to float if it detaches from the magnet, making it easy to retrieve.
- Safe for aquarium walls: The magnets are safe for use on both glass and acrylic tanks, as long as care is taken to avoid picking up sand or gravel that could scratch the surface. A newer version has a sealed, rust-proof magnet.
- Multi-purpose feeding: In addition to holding nori sheets, the MegaVeggieMag can also be used with the Two Little Fishies Pouch Feeder for frozen and freeze-dried foods.
Important considerations:
- Scratching risk: While the magnets are safe for tank surfaces, it's crucial to ensure that no sand or substrate gets trapped between the magnet and the glass during positioning, as this can cause scratches.
- Rusting issues (older models): Some reviews of older versions mentioned rust developing on the wet-side magnet. Two Little Fishies later addressed this issue with a new, sealed magnet design that is snapped together by a machine.
- Fish preference: Some fish may need time to get used to eating from a clip.
- Not for small fish: This is a heavy-duty clip for larger, stronger fish.
- Jointed arm: A flexible arm connects the magnetic mount to the floating ring, allowing the ring's position to be adjusted relative to the tank wall. This prevents the ring from shifting or drifting with the current, ensuring food stays in a designated area.
- Built-in food holder: The MagFeeder includes a "button" that snaps into the mount, allowing you to secure disc-shaped foods like the New Era Marine Grazer.
- Accessory compatibility: The MagFeeder mount can also be used with other Two Little Fishies accessories, such as the VeggieMag seaweed clip or the Pouch Feeder for frozen and sheet foods.
How to use
- Attach the magnet: Secure the outside portion of the magnet to the desired location on your aquarium glass.
- Position the feeding ring: Place the floating MagFeeder ring on the water's surface in your desired spot. The magnetic mount on the outside of the glass will hold it in place.
- Add food: Dispense your fish food into the center of the feeding ring. The ring will hold floating foods in place until they sink, allowing your fish to consume them.
- Target feed (optional): To use the included food button, pop it into the center mount and place a ring-shaped food onto it. To feed sheet or frozen foods, you will need to purchase the Pouch Feeder accessory.
- Remove leftover food: After feeding, remove any uneaten food to maintain water quality.
Maintenance and considerations
- Regular cleaning: The feeding ring should be removed and cleaned regularly to prevent the buildup of algae and residue. The MagFeeder is meant for handwashing.
- Magnet care: The magnets are permanently sealed to prevent corrosion. Handle them with care and do not force them onto the glass.
- Plastic durability: Some user reviews mention that the plastic connecting parts may be susceptible to breaking.
- Size: The MagFeeder's outer ring diameter is about 4 inches, which some users find may be oversized for very small tanks.
- Glass thickness: The standard MagFeeder magnet is strong enough for glass up to 1/2 inch thick. A Mega VeggieMag version is available for thicker tanks
