The Seachem Reef Strontium Saltwater Conditioner for Aquariums is designed to restore and maintain strontium levels in aquarium water while not affecting pH. Strontium is used in the same way that calcium is and is just as important in maintaining a healthy level of growth.

Strontium is found in natural seawater at concentrations ranging from 8 to 10 mg/L. It is chemically very similar to calcium, and many organisms incorporate it alongside calcium in their skeletons. Its inclusion in reef aquariums promotes the growth of corals, coralline algae, and other organisms with a calcareous skeleton or shell, such as tridacnid clams.

Reef Strontium is a gluconate complex containing 10,000 mg/L of available strontium. Gluconate complexation has several advantages: it increases strontium bioavailability, provides a rich source of metabolic energy to help maintain peak coral growth, and prevents strontium precipitation/alkalinity depletion. Because gluconate contains no nitrogen or phosphorous, it cannot lead to algae growth in a properly maintained reef system.
