The Seachem Purigen Aquarium Filter Media is a high-quality synthetic adsorbent that is unlike any other filtration product on the market. It is not a blend of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a one-of-a-kind macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a rate and capacity that exceeds all other competing products by more than 500%.
The Purigen regulates Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates by removing nitrogenous organic waste that would otherwise release these dangerous compounds. Purigen has little effect on trace elements. It dramatically increases redox. It polishes water to an unrivaled level of clarity. Purigen darkens gradually as it degrades and can be easily renewed by treating with bleach.
Purigen is intended for use in both saltwater and freshwater, before using, rinse thoroughly. Use in a fine mesh filter bag (180 microns or less), such as Seachem's The Bag. The Purigen should be placed so that the flow of water through it is maximized for the best results. It can be used in a trickle filter's canister filter, media chamber, box filter, or any high flow area. Each 250ml can treat up to 1,000L of water for up to six months.
