Seachem Pearl Beach Substrate for Aquariums

Regular price R 412.00

The Seachem Pearl Beach Substrate for Aquariums is an all-natural aragonite substrate that can be used in all types of marine, reef, and tropical aquariums. Its chemical composition will aid in the stabilization of calcium and alkalinity while preventing significant pH drops. Unlike competing "wet" gravels, Pearl Beach is sold dry: this bag contains 35% more gravel than an equal-weight bag of wet gravel. These "wet" gravels are marketed in such a way that they appear to contain living, microscopic animals when, in fact, they only contain common bacteria. Bacteria can be found on any substrate, dry or wet. If the goal is to reduce the aquarium cycle time for a new system, a product designed for that purpose (such as Seachem's Stability) would be more appropriate.

Simply rinse before use to get rid of any remaining dust. Fill the aquarium slowly to avoid disturbing the Pearl Beach bed. Place a bowl in the aquarium and fill it with water, allowing it to overflow softly onto the gravel bed. The cloudiness is normal at first. Use mechanical filtration to remove cloudiness (such as filter floss). To expedite clearing, use Clarity.
