The Biodigest Start has several advantages because it is made up of live bacterial strains. Aquarium cleaning by waste matter digestion is aided by the presence of numerous different strains of heterotrophic bacteria, nitrates and phosphates are reduced, water can be effectively purified, filamentous algae is prevented from spreading, and ammonia is converted into nitrites, nitrites into nitrates, and nitrates into nitrogen.
