The Aquatronica system uses a 3V CR2032 button-type battery to save configuration data in its Touch Controller. An optional add-on SMS module uses its own internal battery for black-out warnings. For power outages, a third-party, higher-capacity battery backup solution would be needed to keep equipment like pumps and heaters running. 

Internal controller battery
The internal battery for the Aquatronica Touch Controller stores system settings. The controller has a built-in Ethernet module and can be connected via a Wi-Fi key, but a standard button battery holds the basic settings.
