The Two Little Fishies Pouch Feeder is a magnetically mounted device designed to hold a variety of foods, such as frozen cubes and seaweed, allowing fish and invertebrates to graze naturally. It is suitable for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums and helps to minimize food waste by preventing it from floating away or getting sucked into the filtration system.

Features and Benefits:

  • Magnetic mounting: Unlike suction cups that can lose their grip over time, the feeder uses strong magnets to securely attach to the aquarium glass or acrylic up to 1/2" thick. The device also floats if it becomes uncoupled.
  • Encourages natural grazing: The design allows fish like tangs, blennies, and discus to graze throughout the day as they would in their natural habitat, making it ideal for herbivores.
  • Reduces waste and tank mess: The pouch keeps food contained, preventing pieces from floating into overflows and rotting, which can foul the water.
  • Versatile food options: It can hold a range of food types, including frozen food cubes, seaweed sheets, and soft vegetables like spinach and zucchini slices.
  • Replacement pouches available: Spare and replacement pouches are sold separately, so you do not need to purchase a whole new unit if a pouch gets worn.

How to use the Pouch Feeder:

  • Detach the pouch: Separate the pouch from the magnetic mount inside the tank.
  • Add food: Place frozen food cubes, sheets of seaweed, or other food items into the perforated pouch. You can use Two Little Fishies' own seaweed products, such as SeaVeggies.
  • Secure the pouch: Clip the pouch back onto the feeder mount.
  • Position the feeder: Place the feeder in your aquarium and use the external magnet to secure it to the tank wall. This allows you to position it anywhere your fish can comfortably access it.
  • Let the fish graze: Allow your fish to feed directly from the pouch, which promotes natural foraging behaviour.

Considerations:

  • Fish may need time to adapt: Some reviewers have noted that it may take some time for fish to get used to feeding from the pouch.
  • Pouch size: One reviewer mentioned that they would prefer the pouches to be a bit bigger to make inserting larger algae sheets easier.
  • Potential for splitting: While replacement pouches may be an upgraded, more durable version, some users have found that the older versions split at the seams
