The Two Little Fishies MagFeeder is a magnetic feeding ring that keeps floating food contained in one area of an aquarium. This prevents flakes, pellets, and other floating foods from being scattered by water flow or sent directly down an overflow filter, reducing waste and keeping the aquarium cleaner. The MagFeeder can be used in both freshwater and saltwater tanks.

Features & Benefits:

  • Magnetic mounting: The MagFeeder uses a strong magnet to couple the internal floating ring to the aquarium glass. This allows for easy and precise positioning anywhere on the tank, without requiring you to get your hands wet. The magnetic attachment is often preferred by hobbyists over suction cups, which can lose grip over time.
  • Jointed arm: A flexible arm connects the magnetic mount to the floating ring, allowing the ring's position to be adjusted relative to the tank wall. This prevents the ring from shifting or drifting with the current, ensuring food stays in a designated area.
  • Built-in food holder: The MagFeeder includes a "button" that snaps into the mount, allowing you to secure disc-shaped foods like the New Era Marine Grazer.
  • Accessory compatibility: The MagFeeder mount can also be used with other Two Little Fishies accessories, such as the VeggieMag seaweed clip or the Pouch Feeder for frozen and sheet foods.

How to use

  1. Attach the magnet: Secure the outside portion of the magnet to the desired location on your aquarium glass.
  2. Position the feeding ring: Place the floating MagFeeder ring on the water's surface in your desired spot. The magnetic mount on the outside of the glass will hold it in place.
  3. Add food: Dispense your fish food into the center of the feeding ring. The ring will hold floating foods in place until they sink, allowing your fish to consume them.
  4. Target feed (optional): To use the included food button, pop it into the center mount and place a ring-shaped food onto it. To feed sheet or frozen foods, you will need to purchase the Pouch Feeder accessory.
  5. Remove leftover food: After feeding, remove any uneaten food to maintain water quality.

Maintenance and considerations

  • Regular cleaning: The feeding ring should be removed and cleaned regularly to prevent the buildup of algae and residue. The MagFeeder is meant for handwashing.
  • Magnet care: The magnets are permanently sealed to prevent corrosion. Handle them with care and do not force them onto the glass.
  • Plastic durability: Some user reviews mention that the plastic connecting parts may be susceptible to breaking.
  • Size: The MagFeeder's outer ring diameter is about 4 inches, which some users find may be oversized for very small tanks.
  • Glass thickness: The standard MagFeeder magnet is strong enough for glass up to 1/2 inch thick. A Mega VeggieMag version is available for thicker tanks
