The Giesemann Matrix is a series of high-performance T5 fluorescent aquarium lighting fixtures known for their sleek design, high-quality materials, and efficient light output.. These German-engineered lights are designed to run cool and maximize light distribution through advanced reflector technology.  The Giesemann Matrix series has solid build quality, effective cooling without noisy fans, and has superior reflectors. The product is reknown for its durability and the ability of the T5 lighting to grow healthy and colourful corals and plants effectively. Some owners appreciate the sleek, timeless aesthetic of the housing.

Key Features and Design

The Giesemann Matrix fixtures are designed for serious aquarium enthusiasts, prioritizing performance and durability.

  • Housing: The fixtures feature an ultra-flat body made of high-quality anodized aluminum.
  • Reflectors: A core feature is the use of a high-gloss finished reflector made of 99.8% purest aluminum with a unique, CAD-designed shape, ensuring maximum light output and minimal loss of intensity for each individual tube.
  • Cooling: The design employs optimized passive ventilation, eliminating the need for fans. This system is engineered to keep the T5 tubes at an efficient operating temperature of around 35°C (95°F) while also preventing humid air from the aquarium from entering the fixture and causing corrosion.
  • Control: The original Matrix models typically have three independent light circuits that can be switched separately. They could also be optionally upgraded with a dimmable controller (DIMTEC) for connection to external aquarium computers like the GHL Profilux or IKS, allowing for advanced features like sunrise/sunset simulations.
