The Aquatronica Active Hub Interface Module (ACQ215) is an expansion component for the Aquatronica Aquarium Controller System. Its primary function is to increase the system's capacity by adding six additional data connections (BUS) for more accessories, sensors, and other modules. It is used when all connections on the power unit are already occupied.

How it works:

The Aquatronica system is modular, using a "Plug and Play" design that allows different components to be connected and automatically recognized by the central control unit.

  • Expansion: The Active Hub expands the BUS connections, allowing the user to add more hardware, such as pH interfaces, conductivity interfaces, or dissolved oxygen interfaces, to an existing setup.
  • Data transfer: The hub acts as a bridge for data communication, ensuring the controller can receive data from all connected sensors and send commands to all attached devices.
  • Power: An included power adapter provides the necessary power to the Active Hub itself.

Active Hub vs. Other Interfaces:

It is important to distinguish the Active Hub from other Aquatronica interfaces, which serve different purposes:

  • Active Hub (ACQ215): Provides additional data connection ports to expand the system's capacity for connecting more modules.
  • Parameter interfaces (e.g., ACQ210N-PH): These modules are required for connecting specific probes, such as pH electrodes, to the system. Each parameter (e.g., pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen) needs its own interface.
  • Specialty modules: These are for controlling specific types of equipment. For example, the Tunze® Pumps Module (ACQ460) controls Tunze electronic pumps, and the Dosing Pump (ACQ450) manages automated liquid dosing.
