The Two Little Fishies AccuraSea Seawater Reference Solution is a calibration fluid made from natural seawater, designed for calibrating salinity measuring instruments. Unlike solutions based on artificial salts or distilled water, AccuraSea is used to ensure that equipment like refractometers and hydrometers are accurately measuring the parameters of natural seawater, which is the standard for marine aquariums.

Features & Benefits

  • Natural seawater: AccuraSea is made from real, pure seawater collected near coral reefs.
  • Standardized salinity: The solution is adjusted with reverse osmosis (RO) water to a standard salinity of 35 parts per thousand (ppt).
  • Target conductivity: The standardized solution has a conductivity of 53 mS/cm at 25°C (77°F).
  • High purity: It is micron-filtered and UV-sterilized to ensure it is free of pathogens and chemically stable.

How to use

The AccuraSea Reference Solution is used to calibrate or test the accuracy of various aquarium testing tools. According to a reviewer on Amazon.sa, here are the steps for properly calibrating a refractometer:

  1. Equalize temperature: Float the AccuraSea solution bottle in your tank water for about five minutes to ensure both fluids are at the same temperature.
  2. Zero with RO/DI: Clean the refractometer prism with RO or distilled water. Place a few drops on the prism and calibrate your device to read "0." Wipe it clean.
  3. Calibrate with AccuraSea: Place a few drops of the AccuraSea solution on the refractometer.
  4. Confirm reading: The refractometer should read 1.026 specific gravity or 35 ppt.
