The Seachem pH Alert Water Tester for Fish Tanks is a one-of-a-kind color device that can be placed in the aquarium or filter to continuously monitor pH. A sensor changes color reversibly from yellow to orange to red to alert you to pH changes between 5.4 and 8.0. It is only intended for use with freshwater. The pH Alert lasts up to four times as long as competing products and is half the size. It's small, clean, and unobtrusive, so it won't interfere with your aquarium's view.
Simply place the pH Alert sensor in a visible location in the aquarium or filter and match the sensor color to the corresponding pH reading on the color wheel. It's really that simple. There are no chemicals or testing procedures required. Response time will be approximately 30 minutes when first put into service. pH shifts will then be detected within ten minutes.
Aside from removing algae with clean, soft material, no additional care is required. To clean the sensor, do not use bleach, soap, detergents, or hard objects. Some dye medications have the potential to discolor the sensor. The unit should be read in natural daylight or daylight-simulating light for maximum sensitivity. Sensor exhaustion is visible as fading or washing out of sensor color. When pH Alert is depleted, it is time to replace it.
